What Are Pension Credits?
The Pension Credit Service is there to assist you with enquiries about State Pension eligibility, pension claims and payments.
Pension Credits are one of the goverments income-related benefits. Pension Credits are split into two seperate parts – Savings Credit and Guarantee Credit. Either way you don’t pay income tax on Pension Credit.
For people who previously saved money towards their retirement, savings credits are an extra payment.
The difference with a Guarantee Credit is that this is designed to top up people’s weekly income if it’s below £163 (for single people) or £248.80 (for couples).
If you reached State Pension age on or after 6/4/16, in some cased people might not be eligible for Savings Credit.
