Phone Rage Index

HMRC crowned as most frustrating company to call in the new ‘phone rage index’

Consumers frustrated by time-wasting automated call systems have crowned HM Revenue and Customs the worst company in the UK’s first ‘phone rage index’, a consumer website revealed today.

PleasePress1, which offers shortcuts to the automated phone menus of some the UK’s most well-know firms, said its page for HMRC received the highest number of visits (38,253) from consumers trying to get through to a person among its 400 and more menu options.

The silver medal for wasting people’s time on the phone goes to Ford Motor Company, followed by Lloyds TSB and Halifax respectively in third and fourth place.
